The Akarigbere is the first of four classes of White Cap Chiefs who serve under the Oba of Lagos

The Akarigbere are primarily recognized as the political, administrative and kingmakers of the Lagos islands (Isale eko) kingdom.

They are responsible for the are responsible for the following

1. Coronation

2.Civil Administration

3.Cultural Preservation

  • The leading chief of the Akarigbere is the Eletu Odibo, who acts as the “prime minister” to the Oba and the chief installing officer.
  • Other prominent titles within this class include the Eletu IwasheEletu IkaOlogun Agbaje, and Olorogun Adodo.

Historically,the Akarigberi’s help maintain the sanctity of the transition from one administration to the other.
