The Ola-idewu Onikoyi family is one of the nine royal idi-igi (branch) of the Onikoyi dynasty that produces and/or evolve the Onikoyi of Ikoyi in Moba land of Lagos state.while the Onikoyi dynasty controls and receives royalties from all our assets and properties in Moba land, they also receive royalties from assets and properties own in several areas of isale eko (Lagos island) which is ultimately shared and redistributed amongst the nine Idi -igi’s (branches) of the Onikoyi dynasty.

The evolution of an Onikoyi of ikoyi has been successful for generations because it is based on a classical rotational algorithm with the sons and daughters of the nine idi-igi’s (branches)

This ancestral rotational selection algorithm had been implemented for generations,and was designed such that,just as much as sons of the family can become the Onikoyi of Ikoyi, the sons of their unmarried and/or married daughters are also entitled and can evolve to becoming the Onikoyi of Ikoyi. This simplified and easy to follow selection and/or rotational algorithm has been emulated and used in several communities in many countries across the globe including those of Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, The Americas, and the pacific islands.
